“I Spy”
By Scott L Vannatter – 100 words
Hal looked intently through the flower at the window. The ice dripping from the flower went unnoticed by his, usually, keen eyes. He was looking for Chandra.
He could just make out her form dusting the furniture in her house. He wished it was his house.
“Watcha doin’, Mister?” Hal jumped and fell rump first in the melting snow and the mud.
Getting up he looked the boy over.
“Why did you scare me like that?”
“Was getting ready to go in and saw ya starin’.”
“That’s your house? Your mom is… Chandra?”
“Yup.”
Had it really been that long?

I, too, thought the boy was Hal’s son! Either way, this is a grand story with much potential.

Aha! It seems there is a history, one with long-lasting implications. I love the way this story says something without actually saying it. I take it, the boy is his son? Well done, sir! 🙂

Ohh, never even thought of that particular twist! I love it! No, I just had him having always wanted to marry her and had found her at last only to find her married and with a son…yours, now, that makes it all different…

Why do I doubt she really even knows him?!

Great mood/tone. Liked the bittersweet taste. Time does pass and life changes so much before we even realize it. Randy
