The Things that We Say!

I have written a couple of times about my love attempts at a love life. I have stated that I am on a couple of dating sites. I have also blown off some steam at the way people are and aren’t treated on these sites. I got enough comments back to let me know that most of you enjoyed my humorous time spent in the pursuit of finding someone to go out with.

Well, it occurred to me that writers make mistakes; we write things that just don’t quite come out the way we meant for them to. So, I took the liberties of pulling a few lines out of the descriptions of themselves and what they want from women’s profiles on one dating site.

They are from a lot of women, no one was named, and since anyone could look at the site and see these same lines, I am not breaking any privacy anythings as far as I know! So enjoy. I have put some of my own thoughts after the statements and after the ***

“Women Say the Darndest Things”

My career is very demanding which leaves NO time for BS or non sense in any relationship. I have a drama FREE lifestyle,
***how can you have a very demanding career and no drama? I think that is the BS.

NO MARRIED-SEPARATED OR OVER WEIGHT MEN! **ONLY CAUCASIAN NEED APPLY**
***Well, isn’t she special? She certainly knows what she wants. Nothing about having your teeth, or a brain in your head, not even a job

If you have drama and are working through it…Don’t contact me.
***Hmmm

I don’t fix B.S.or drama,and I don’t want to be your mother.
***Lordie! I am so happy to hear that

Blah, blah, blah. Filling up this field. Still need more.
Maybe this is enough.
Ugh. Isn’t this beyond four sentences. Aren’t computer programs supposed to make everything easier?
*** Now, this one isn’t going to talk to someone who didn’t want to bother with a profile. Well, she might…I don’t want to talk to her either way.

Profession        Have 1 (her response)
*** I am glad. However, you could say a dumpster lady has a profession.

When life hands u lemons to hell with the lemonade add tequila and make it a snake bite!
***I don’t need to comment on this – it’s great as it is!

Short trips in short planes? What did you say?

I enjoy taking short trips in the car or flying to another country.
***And those fit together how?

I just want to enjoy my life with no drama, or game playing!
***Ah…doesn’t everyone?

Please have No drama.. No alcohol or drug problems
***Now, she has taken all the fun out of it. I wonder what her ex was like?

I’m very laid back, easy goin and a simple woman that would like to find a hardworking, independent man
***You are laid back and easy goin but you want the guy to be hardworking and independent…sounds like a moocher, doesn’t it?

My name is xxxxx, I enjoy watching football, and NASCAR.
***Dating anonymous…I can see the group all saying in unison, “Hello xxxxxx.”

Short and sweet tonight. Just wanted you to smile a bit.

Oh, and to be fair. The young woman I spoke of in the other post who didn’t answer and didn’t call me back…her phone got wet and stopped working, she didn’t have my number (it was on the phone), and her mother was very ill. We are going to try again.

Namaste,
Scott

That was an entertaining post. Some just made me shake my head and wonder, what were they thinking? Back in the days when I had a profile on a dating site I would on occasion, read the other profiles to my Mom. As we would peruse the bios for a kindred spirit, we would run the gamut of emotions. Judging by the responses I received, my profile was not too popular, but then neither were the vast majority of those I had the sick and twisted pleasure to read. 😉
I hope your meeting goes well.

    It is still true today…

Stepping Into Shark Infested Waters (8/08/07)

I’m a 52 yeal old, blue jean wearing, semi-retired professional. A socially conscious, progressive half-pint (5ft) who prides herself in living outside-the-box, while sporting an intensely positive approach to my life and the world around me. I value peace and a rowdy good time, depending on the setting.

I set sail from the coast for the valley in 2000 and am sending out an
“Ahoy” for a local First Mate, close to my age, with an outstanding sense of humor, who can hold his own in the calm and the storm, with integrity and kindness.

I have lived abroad for many years and am comfortable in most social
settings, but prefer the unpretentious and down-to-earth over the ostentatious.
I am not interested in dating for dating sake, but more for creating an authentic meaningful friendship.

For starters, a few of our Ports-of-Call may include. Intelligent conversation about
life and our world, urban and back roads exploration, concerts/festivals (free and ticketed) , volunteering, street fairs and day trips, open mics and movies, cards and board games, slow recumbent cycling, working out/swimming laps at the local fitness center, and swabbing the deck.. Nah, just kidding!.

What are some of your favorites?

Should we discover we have the sails and rigging for a long term expedition, I would be open to the possibility of an endless journey with another kindred Spirit seeking a complementary mate.

FYI ~ I was born with Arthrogryposis (Google it or ask me) and have used a motorized wheelchair for extended walking (more than 30 minutes) for the past 25 years, it has not been a shipwreck for me, hopefully it won’t be one for you either. But if it is, please grab the nearest lifesaver and watch out for the sharks. 😉

If you choose to respond, please send more than a one liner, as it may
    appear you have difficulty communicating.

In my opinion, it sounds nice and open and honest. You even told them about the wheelchair.
Mine is similarly open. I have gotten to the point that I no longer have any particular worry if they don’t answer or whatever; I just am thankful because I decided that we don’t meet for a reason. I only want to see someone I will like and be able to have fun with, not worry over and about for days on end.
      Thanks for sharing,
      Scott

Thanks… You’re welcome. Yes, I agree. Haven’t posted on the personals since 2008. Just too many wackos who think they can transform their unhappy lives by sucking the joy out of mine. 😉 Life is too short to spend time going in circles. 🙂
