First Flight

First Flight

I open my eyes and peer out. The countryside opens up. Though it is night, I can still see for a long distance; the air is so clear. I feel the fresh crispness on my skin. My shirt, long-sleeved, breathes in the openness and I am happy. Standing on top of the Ferris wheel, I look down and have no sense of dizziness or loss of balance.

This is a first and I enjoy that as well. I am relaxed as though just standing in my living room at home without a care in the world.

“Are you ready?” I look to my left and she is there.

I can’t see her face, but I know her as a friend. I reach my hand out and gently clasp hers. The touch feels nice, comfortable, and normal. We glance at each other, and then we straighten out and allow our bodies to fall from the top, about fifty feet up.

As the ground approaches quickly, I have no sensation of fear; my mind is free and unfettered. At the last second, our bodies bow a bit and we flatten out before sailing back into the evening air. Flight! The wind ruffles through my clothes and my hair, leaving me with a sense of joy and of being pure and clean. After a few seconds we pull up and land softly on our feet.

Several years ago I decided that I wanted to fly. I mean really fly. I wanted to sail over houses and visit places.

I had done some reading on the astral plane. I have come to believe it exists, a parallel dimension to ours that we can’t see, but is there anyway. I have come to believe that there are many of these dimensions, none of which we can normally see. I have also come to believe that our minds, under the right conditions, can visit these other dimensions in an astral body. Deep sleep is one of these conditions.

I read, thought, and practiced. Some evenings, I would get a second or two of these worlds. I wanted more. The above was such a visit. It felt so real that I do not believe it could have been a dream. It was a world. It existed; it exists, I still believe.

I wish I could relate to you the reasons it wasn’t a dream. If that kind of clarity exists in a mere dream, then, perhaps, what is going on now is simply another dream. Regardless, I don’t practice it anymore as I had some problems with it that I might discuss in another post. But, there are times I miss it and so want to go back.

I guess we shall see.

Do you believe in the astral plane? Do you believe in astral projection? What are your experiences?

Namaste,
Scott

I’ve done this since I was a little girl. Very scary when I was younger, now the flying part I love. Waking up trapped in my body and hearing sounds and seeing vivid colors can be scary. Thank you for sharing your experiences. 🙂

Thank you. I have had a couple of cautionary comments. And, they may be right. Maybe I do need to talk to some “expert” before ever trying again. If I remember right, this came naturally to you. Not so here; I had to learn to do it. May make a bit difference.

Yes….I never tried, except once. I visualized myself spinning in a chair…and it was the scariest time ever. I wouldn’t (in my opinion) ‘try’ to make it happen…funny to even hear that, as I used to pray and beg for it to stop. Was much worse in my teens and early 20s I think my insecurities brought all types of things to me. Now I am powerful and loved and light up…and don’t let the darkness near. Take care of yourself. And the Lord’s prayer is how I learned to wake up when I was paralyzed.

    Dear Scott,

I have had many out of body experiences. Stay true to your beliefs. Look within. It will come again.

    Aloha,

I’ve never had an out of body experience as you’ve described it and it seems superhuman to me, but who am I to suggest that this is an impossibility. I personally think it sounds wonderful, perhaps meditative and an escape from the hurts and pains of this life. Consider yourself fortunate that you’ve been given this special gift, or maybe I should say that you’ve allowed yourself to transcend your physical self to a spiritual experience a very few of us understand.

Hmm. I like the way you put it. I agree. I will think on it. I believe I should post the problems I had with it and see if there are answers there, too.

What you wrote here is very close to my heart…i have had such out of body experiences and meditative astral projections are also used to cure discomforts and illnesses and that is how i started learning it.
it does work but you have to let your mind be completely in that another sphere where you see yourself from a distance..sleep and /or in the state of meditation…

I wonder if you two realize that it was you who kept me going in this blogging world. I believe you were my first two followers and I have enjoyed the specialness I have always had toward you two. Just one more thing you have in common.
