Friday Fictioneers – Tangled Web

Friday Fictioneers for September 14, 2012

Searching the Web! Oh, he was so funny he almost wet himself.

Of course, he was so busy trying to joke to keep from crying out that he almost tripped over the body. It was wrapped in webbing. Now, he was scared. There could not really be a giant spider that could wrap a human, could there?

The flashlight just showed cave walls covered in the silk-like substance. He was hyper sensitive right now.  He felt a light touch, then another. The flashlight crashed to the ground, darkness enveloped him as he realized:

not a spider, thousands of tiny ones!

Gulliver meets the spiders. He should have known. Stop, drop and roll? Probably won’t help him.

Love the humour mixed with the creepiness – and you had a nice light touch with the horror ( much like your horribly busy little spiders!)

We had a spider web in the corner above our bed years ago. My wife was of the “live and let live” philosophy at the time, but that changed when a million spider babies showered down upon our beg. 🙂

I’ll have to remember not to let my daughter see most of these posts. She has issues with spiders and this one could send her over the edge. *Shudders* 🙂

I loved it Scott…. spooky – but with a bit of a humorous ending ~ 100 tiny spiders could weave an interesting web I would bet!! 🙂

Little mini-Shelobs!! Yuk!! Not something I want to contemplate. I can imagine that experience was not something you remember fondly. And using humor to mask fear is a very real technique. Good job.

Thanks for the nightmare! You managed to plant an image in my head I don’t want! LOL. Well done.

Sorry. When I was little I ran outside into the back yard, tripped, and saw that almost the entire yard was covered in a web made from hundreds of little spiders.
