Friday Fictioneers Photo Prompt for 1/25/2013:
“Walkway to Wonder”
January 22, 2013: Jordan stepped onto the bridge and crept toward the halo marking the midpoint. When there, he took off his snowy gloves to “touch” the halo. No sensation. Glove in hand, he made his decision and strode strongly into the colorful aperture.
As Jordan stepped out into paradise, his first thoughts embarrassed him. He looked at the beautiful palm trees, the blue ocean, and the nearly cloudless sky and could not help but see the T-shirt he had bought once. Stated on the front:
“Hate Oz.
Hate you, too.
Took the Shoes. Find your own way home.
Toto”

That’s the 2013 way to be “off” to see the Wizard, and I quite approve. And those Munchkins are annoying as hell too!

Yes, and the halo is in technicolor!

Hi Scott,
I don’t think he’s in Kansas anymore. Maybe he’s in a better place. ron

Could be, but I can’t think of a better place than Kansas, can you? lol

Very good to see a different take on this. From the minds of creative ones we get a new vision of the future.

Dickian, perhaps? A very different perception of reality. I think I quite like it.
Why “touched”? A hint to reality?

I have been criticized before for adding “” to things that shouldn’t have them.
It’s for emphasis, but, perhaps, I should find some new way for it. 🙂
Thanks for reading and for commenting.

A unique way to enter paradise. Or could it be substance abuse 🙂

I imagine they are still on sale somewhere. I saw it back in the late 80’s, early 90’s.

A clever and unique take on the prompt. I might never see the beach quite the same way.

I have to admit that when I saw “sci-fi” as your genre, I was taken aback, thinking,”What? No humor?” Thankfully I was wrong. 🙂
