Five Sentence Fiction Week of March 28, 2013

What it’s all about: Five Sentence Fiction is about packing a powerful punch in a tiny fist. Each week Lillie will post a one word inspiration, then anyone wishing to participate will write a five sentence story based on the prompt word. The word does not have to appear in your five sentences, just use it for direction.

This week:  Flame

Don’t confuse this with Friday Fictioneers!  That is 100 words from a photo prompt.  Go here for that.  For FSF click on the above pic.

Keeper of the Flame

The muscular young man bent low over the small lantern, trying to get the fire brighter before the wind took it away.  He covered it with his hands and blew softly on the yellow light until it glowed bright and fierce.  Standing, he looked intently in all directions, shaking within from the awful consequences of what he was about to do.  He would not be forgiven and might, in fact, be exiled or enslaved if caught.

Prometheus ran.

I reckon he would have been defecating bricks if he knew that he was going to be condemned to have giant eagle tearing out his liver every day for eternity 😉

Ouch, only partially remembered that part.
Yes, I suppose we might not have ever had fire.

Okay, I’ve never tried anything like this but am interested. So please forgive my ignorance. I write something following the guideline in my blog, and then do what?

Lillie will give us a word prompt. This week is “flame”. You write a story that is exactly 5 sentences long. Doesn’t matter how many words, but must be 5 sentences. Then, link your post to hers so others can read yours, just like Friday Fictioneers. If you have trouble doing the linking part, write me back and I will help. There is, on her site, a small blue logo to click on to connect your blog to hers.
