“Trips of a Lifetime” – Genre: Fiction Rated: G

The young, chivalrous pirate walked to the edge of the plank and looked deep into the shark-infested waters. The sword tip at his back eased in its pressure. He turned and faced his mutinous crew.
The first mate, Skaggy, went from a scowl to a frustrated smile and released the cutlass to the deck of the ship.
“Never could be mad at ye fur long, Cap’n.” The crew cheered as Skaggy untied their Captain.
The boy opened his eyes and shut the book.
“That’s the way I woulda done it,” he thought as he again reached for the library shelf.

Could have gone either way, I think. Good thing Skaggy wasn’t the blood-thirsty type!

Yeah, he might have been if the reader had been a little older.

That’s a real feel good story, kind of captures the magic a child feels when reading. Oh, and I love the name Skaggy!

Thank you. I liked Skaggy, too.

Wow, you made me a child again, pouring over my mothers large library, marveling at more stories than I thought I could ever read. Thank you! Nicely done.

That is such a warm memory. I remember loving to go to the library. Ours was small, but still I had a lot to read.

Wonderful— the more children that grow up like that, the better

That’s the wonderful thing about books. They’ll take you places and send you on adventures without having to leave the safety and security of your easy chair.

Much safer and more enjoyable. Video games can do the same if you have the right one. I enjoy climbing mountains, running through forests and streams, delving into crypts, and fighting the dragons with magic and arrows!

Lovely read, Scott! I really enjoyed. I love getting lost in a book! Thanks for reading mine, too.

I’m reaching for another book right there with that boy!
Thanks for including your link, and for your visit.
I ran out of words but was thinking about adding ‘step-mother’ maybe that would have cleared up the prenup question. But it didn’t have to be that way either. It is fun to let your imagination fill in the blanks. Even with your eyes open.
