May 08, 2013 ~  hosted by  Lillie McFerrin

What it’s all about: Five Sentence Fiction is about packing a powerful punch in a tiny fist. Each week I will post a one word inspiration, then anyone wishing to participate will write a five sentence story based on the prompt word. The word does not have to appear in your five sentences, just use it for direction.

This week’s FSF prompt is in honor of the one of a kind blog hop being hosted by three amazing writers! Check it out over at and add your own story!!!

This week:  GOGGLES

“Smell the Coffee”

by Scott L Vannatter

Cynthia was so happy about getting her new goggles and being able to see everything like she had when she was much younger.

She looked around at the wonderful world that encircled her; the signs were bright and sharp and even stated their ads politely; the people all smiled at her and at each other;  no one in a hurry; the cars were all earth tone colors; the sky was a bright blue with a gorgeous yellow sun and a few puffs of clouds scattered around.

Then, it happened; she tripped while looking up at the sky; her glasses falling to the sidewalk.

As she painfully sat up and hugged her knee, she saw the drastic differences:  the litter, the angry faces, the smog, the overcast, and the dingy clouds.

Cynthia began sobbing hard as she picked up the shattered rosy lenses and reality set in.

Love it Now

Love is ever-present within our own Being but we might not feel it until we live in the Now. "Love it Now" was created to share ideas about loving and being present in the here and now. Enjoy!
