Five Sentence Fiction – FSF – “Charmed” – Rated PG13

Five Sentence Fiction – FSF – 5/23/13 “Charmed”

“Lucky Man”

John Asaunder had spent his entire fortune, sold everything, and renounced everyone in order to travel to the heart of the Himalayas, over three thousand feet up and then eight hundred feet down and into a frozen mountain, to find the crypt containing the majestic charmed necklace of immortality.

He was now heading back toward civilization and his realized dreams of power; being immortal would give him all the time he would need to learn and grow and amass a fortune undreamed of in the world.

Stepping through a narrow chasm just outside the entrance, his slip corresponded with the beginnings of the avalanche; several thousand tons of ice, dirt, and rock followed him into the vast deep of the tear in the earth.

He awoke from unconsciousness sometime later to find himself in utter darkness, unable to breathe or do more than move his fingers more than a few inches in a claw-like fashion.

He had time; he began to dig.
