Five Sentence Fiction – FSF – 8/28/13 – Storm – Rated PG13

Five Sentence Fiction – Thunder

Aug 28, 2013 ~ hosted by lillie

What it’s all about: Five Sentence Fiction is about packing a powerful punch in a tiny fist. Each week I will post a one word inspiration, then anyone wishing to participate will write a five sentence story based on the prompt word.

The word does not have to appear in your five sentences, just use it for direction.

This week: THUNDER

Tempest

By Scott L Vannatter

I sat serenely on my worn, but soft outdoor blanket in the backyard grass looking across the lake at the building tempest.

The inky blackness gave way to distant charges of crooked light as the upcoming storm raged over the nearby countryside with its firm-looking clouds seeming to stand still from this faraway vantage.

The noise of lightning was only a light crackle to my ears, and I enjoyed the cool, moist breeze pouring over my nude body as I soaked in the weather, knowing no one was around for miles to see my indiscretion.

Slowly, the maelstrom floated nearer my home, the wind picking up in intensity and a light drizzle striking my skin.

With closed eyes and lost in comforting thoughts, I did not anticipate the ferocity of the event and, suddenly soaked and cold, had to grab the blanket and streak for the house, my giggles lost in the cacophony of the thunderous applause from the heavens.

carly books

I read lots of books, from mythology retellings to literary fiction and I love to reread books from childhood, this is a place to voice my thoughts for fun. I also like to ramble about things such as art or nature every now and again.
