Rochelle Wise-off has brought us, once again, Friday Fictioneers.  This is the place in which writers take a photo prompt (see above for this week) and write a stand-alone story or segment of 100 words (+/-).  After reading my entry below, click > HERE < for the rest of the entries.  Enjoy!!!

Uphill Living

By Scott L Vannatter – 100 Words

Zane looked down below at the beautiful home of Mortimer.   Mortimer was having another party.  It was another party in which Zane had not been invited.  He could not help being poor.  It had taken him two days and all of his donkey’s efforts to move the five-foot boulder to a good spot in front of his house.

“Tonight would be a bit different,” he thought.  “Tonight, Mortimer would learn two things:  First, he would learn that parties are meant to be celebrations among friends and neighbors.  Second, he would learn that I am poor, but live uphill.”

He pushed.

carly books

I read lots of books, from mythology retellings to literary fiction and I love to reread books from childhood, this is a place to voice my thoughts for fun. I also like to ramble about things such as art or nature every now and again.
