King for a Day

By Scott L Vannatter

Merlin looked out upon the land of Camelot, the rain pouring for almost 2 weeks having nearly destroyed the kingdom.

A small tear slid down his cheek, dropping and falling quietly to the stone floor of the castle.

King Arthur came hesitantly into the chamber and approached the old mage.

Merlin turned and looking at the King, asked, “Was it worth it, My Lord?”

The King shook his head, without a smile, and answered, “My old friend, I asked for you to have my reign continue for many years!”
