“Set in Stone”

By Scott L Vannatter – 100 words

Jordan looked at the nearly-finished product: a wooden plank with shells and rocks glued to the back in a nice formation. He stood back, a bit disappointed for the umpteenth time this month.

“Will I never get it right?” He said, mostly as a whisper.

He turned and walked out of the workshop room to prepare some much needed nourishment. Alone in the room, the board began to glow softly. As it sat there, the glow picked up intensity and began flashing. Just as something began to creep from the aura, the precarious board fell to the floor, all lost.
