Luminous

“Bioluminescence”

By Scott L Vannatter

Corey had said it was not just a fluke; it was important and it was going to have serious consequences.

Corey had been right; he had not wanted to be; it just was.

A freak mixing of some type of airborne/waterborne chemical leftover with living tissue was the cause and could not be ignored any longer.

It had started: when an organism died, it now began to luminesce; it glowed, and brightly.

Corey looked out at the near-daylight brightness given off by the dead, by the soil the dead went into, and he realized might never see natural darkness ever again.

Five Sentence Fiction – “Angles” – 4/18/2013 – Genre: Sci-fi / Humor PG

What it’s all about: Five Sentence Fiction is about packing a powerful punch in a tiny fist. Each week Lillie will post a one word inspiration, then anyone wishing to participate will write a five sentence story based on the prompt word. The word does not have to appear in your five sentences, just use it for direction.

This weekAngles

Don’t confuse this with Friday Fictioneers!  That is 100 words from a photo prompt.  Go here for that.  For FSF click on the above pic (after you read my story!).

“City of Angles”

_________

The darkness gathered around the city as the sun dropped below the horizon and brought out the evil side of things.

He was light itself; a beacon unto others who wanted the light back in their lives and the darkness should banish into the nether from which it had come.

He stood tall; his wings unfurled into such beauty that all who saw him cried and bowed; yet, the darkness remained and confusion struck him like a slap.

The young teen walked slowly toward him; her hand reached into a small brown leather bag and withdrew a protractor, which she held up high for all to see; its shine much less, but dispelled the shadows easily.

“You’re dyslexic, Michael, a horrible speller; be gone for I have what this story asked for.”

carly books

I read lots of books, from mythology retellings to literary fiction and I love to reread books from childhood, this is a place to voice my thoughts for fun. I also like to ramble about things such as art or nature every now and again.
