From Tree to Shining Tree – Friday Fictioneers

Friday Fictioneers – a wonderful collection of a photo-based 100 word story.  >HERE<

Picture Courtesy of Sandra Cook.

It was nearly dark, that weird time when shadows played with the minds.
The elder tree did not mind the games, but had not time at the moment.  He had a calling.

The open knothole, turned up, began to glow and a pale yellow light shot forth to the clouds.
The beam bounced off clouds, sailed from any surface, striking all other trees who responded in kind.

Slowly, they started to move, ripping their roots from the ground. Their many legs now carried them faster and faster across landscapes, crushing homes and people in their wake.

The invasion had begun…finally.

“Bah”

By Scott L Vannatter (100 words)

Gifford walked quickly up the grassy steps. He had heard it; now, he wanted to see it. He slowed near the top and peeked. Yes, there it was in the distance. Magnificent specimen.

He approached slowly and quietly. He took a pic with his phone and took notes. It was about 3 feet long, green with photoluminescent pods creating a light red on its underbelly. The noise sounded like electrical lines out in the country. He was fascinated.

The creature turned and saw him. The noise grew and it shuffled toward him. He ran. It was the dreaded Christmas humbug.

Attention, Please!

by Scott L Vannatter – 100 Words

“Now, Mr. Saleno, please just look out the window at the beautiful scenery while I fix your tooth.”

Joe Saleno decided to do just that: distract himself so as not to be nervous.

He looked out the Dentist’s window.

He saw the boat realizing it had a bridge;

He looked at the truck thinking it might have a drill in the back;

The house had steps that looked like teeth and the paint was probably enamel-based.

“Mr. Saleno, please stop!”

Joe stopped looking out the window (which had a pane, by the way) and realized he had bit the dentist.

I read lots of books, from mythology retellings to literary fiction and I love to reread books from childhood, this is a place to voice my thoughts for fun. I also like to ramble about things such as art or nature every now and again.
