Spring is Here, Once Again…

Yep, spring is here and it brings the good and the bad, but mostly the good.  Here are some pics I took yesterday (Tues):

The wind was very bad for awhile (40-60mph) and it really did a number on my plastic drain pipes.

IMG_3738

One tulip that keeps coming up year after year.

IMG_3739

Not sure what this is?

IMG_3744

As I said, the wind kept tearing things apart.  This was the big branch from a previously windy day.

IMG_3745

Before time and the wind, this was a useable bird house.

IMG_3747

A group of yellow tulips that comes up in the back yard.

IMG_3748

The old homestead.  I have been there over 10 years, I believe.

IMG_3749

My car will have been mine for 16 years in September.  Has about 156,000 miles on it.  Going Strong!

IMG_3751

Close-up of red tulip at side of house by porch.

IMG_3752

Same here, but yellow tulip.

IMG_3753

This is my gas meter.  It squeaks anytime the gas is being used.  Weird, but I can’t get anyone to worry about it.

IMG_3754

A stroke adaption.  These solar-powered lights (small) burn all night to help me see when entering the driveway after dark.

IMG_3755Finally, this old tree has been here forever.  It was struck by lightning many years ago.

I do enjoy spring, almost as much as fall.  I hope your renewal time of the year is going great!

Namaste,

Scott

Living off the Land and Creating Beauty with Powder!

This is a wonderful video < 15Min.  I found it posted by a friend on Facebook, but it also comes from a WordPress site entitled “Primitivetechnology” .  See what you think.  I was absolutely fascinated. If you can’t get the link below to work, the one above has the video partway down on the page.

Living off the land

This is about 5-6 minutes and is a beautiful art style from India!  Wow

Dull Home? Mix It Up!!!

Debra Kristi, on of my favs, hit a long fly ball when she began talking about how to spruce up your home on a shoe-string budget. My budget is always looking full and a small, unexpected cost can make me shake my head.  But to be able to change your house basics so easily and cheaply?  Gotta try it…

June 13, 2013 ~  hosted by  Lillie McFerrin

What it’s all about: Five Sentence Fiction is about packing a powerful punch in a tiny fist. Each week I will post a one word inspiration, then anyone wishing to participate will write a five sentence story based on the prompt word. The word does not have to appear in your five sentences, just use it for direction.

This week:  Home

Jacob had settled on the bus, refusing anything else, using the hours to prepare himself for whatever might come along.

Alicia had never approved of his “service”; she felt he could have served his country at a desk without having to take the life of anyone else; he knew he needed more; they had fought the night he had left and had not spoken much since.

Almost four years was a long time; he missed her but had sent a message last week saying he would be there tonight and would leave if that’s what she wanted; his heart was heavy, but he still believed in what he had done, why he had been there.

The bus stopped in his small town’s station and he stepped down, looking for her, but trying not to; she was there, all three children in tow, tears streaming down her face.

She ran to him, taking him by the only arm he had left and hugged him tightly, her words slowly sinking in as she said, “That little girl you saved from the bomb got to go home, and I am so glad you did, too.”

Here I am – Great Uncle Scott!

Well, last Monday at 8:05am, my niece gave birth to a wonderfully healthy baby girl, named Karlee Koontz.  She was 6 Lbs 4 Oz and 19 inches.  I got to hold her for the first time today.  I am waiting on a picture of that moment, but here are 3 pictures for you to see.

I am, of course, proud!
