Spring is Here…Love is in …. heck it ain’t here!

I have mentioned before that I am on a couple of dating sites.  I have been talking to this lady since early last week.  In the first conversation, I wrote.  She wrote back, interested, then I didn’t hear from her again.  I wrote back making sure she was okay.  She had met a guy and thought it was gonna be someone she wanted to try with.  That’s fine.  I always want people to be happy.  I told her good luck and if it didn’t work out, drop me a note.  That never happens, btw.  I am not dumb.  It’s just a nice way to leave the ball in their court.  She writes back the next night, telling me he was a loser.  I asked her if she still wanted to go out.  Here is the conversation following the early pleasantries…  What I want is for all of you to read carefully and see if I was wrong or if I was being played or what…  Those of you who know me, know I would write and apologize if I was wrong…

Have eaten there – lived in @@@@@@@@ for over @@ years.
Have not been to the BBQ place.
Have eaten @@@@@ since college and 18, kinda miss it.
I do enjoy frozen shrimp, tacos, and chicken.
I worked at Pizza Hut for awhile, so do like them a lot, as well as Cracker Barrel (my fav).
Watched “50 First Dates” and really liked some of his other stuff, but I don’t like some of his movies…I love Keanu Reeves and Anything with Jessica Alba in it.
How do you feel about Thursday this week for meeting?
Scott
PS – I have a blog I write and@@@@@ is another blogger. She writes books and lives the @@@@@@@ very well.

I don’t think so…I haven’t had to make them before. Wow I had a reeeally long day at work, then went singing and stayed out WAY later than usual. I hope you had a really good day. Might want to call and see if they are open through the week for lunch, really not sure? I know they are on the weekends. I can give them a call tomorrow and find out.

That would be great or we can just go Saturday for lunch. It’s really up to you. My schedule is pretty flexible at the moment.
Let me know. Sounds like fun. Singing? Karaoke? What song(s) did you do?

Hmm, ok, but if you look back, things were never settled…
It’s fine. I didn’t think you were all that interested either…this kind of says it all.
Not mad, just disappointed.
Good Luck to you, too.

Can’t wait to hear from you all.

I have doing a lot of things this week.  Blogging has not been one of them, at least, my usual blogging.  I enjoy doing the flash fiction duo that I handle each week:  Friday Fictioneers and Five Sentence Fiction.  In fact, soon, I hope to publish on Kindle a collection of 100 (or more) of my Five Sentence Fictions from the last 100 weeks (give or take).  It’s in the making, but will be a bit.

I also have been tasked with writing a 2500 word horror short story that is turning into 4000 words.  I am enjoying the task.  It has, however, kept me from blogging as usual.  That’s not all, of course, I have also been busy seeing doctors, taking my Dad to his doctors’ visits, trying to rest, and reading more blog posts than I have been in many many months.

So, I apologize to you, maybe.  I say “maybe” because, even though I didn’t write my Flash Fiction items, I have been sharing even more with other bloggers.  Both through my comments and people actually viewing my other posts.  It seems that, though I really like writing fiction, I have a bit of flare for other writings.  I knew this at one point, but it has been over-shadowed lately just because I was pushing myself in so many areas.  That kinda stopped today when I realized that I have had more views this past week when I did other types of posts than when I simply write my fiction.

People seem to enjoy personalized posts in which you pour out (or tear out) your heart by voicing opinions on topics you are concerned about and when you reblog excellent posts of others.  I knew this, in actuality, but had put it on the back burner, too.

I have decided that I don’t have to have a set routine for my blog.  I can write 1-2 times a week at times and 4-5 others.  It is up to me.  As long as I stay in the loop and write weekly, I think it will be fine.  Well, it will be just because I intend on doing it.

I will end by pointing you to a post I read that hit me good and hard.  Language is strong, so is the topic.  However, because it hit me hard, I think everyone else should look at it, too.  I hadn’t thought about some of the specifics mentioned; that’s what hit me so hard.

The Problem? Well, It’s Not Really Women…

I watched a video today that shook me pretty hard.  I use Google a lot and I see the auto-complete trying to guess at what I am wanting to search.  It is often funny and totally outlandish.  Here is a very disturbing video article that is not funny.  I am not going to say anything more before you watch this < 5 min. video.  We will talk afterwards:

Women – According to the World’s largest Search Engine

Okay, now we talk.  It is not enough to say I was disturbed at the results shown in the video.  I was appalled.  Hundreds of years have passed and our “society” still thinks of women as trash, pieces of meat, objects, not people at all.  I know not everyone is that way.  Also, I am not picking on just the men; there are women who believe this, too.  Many of these totally false identifiers of females come from TV, movies, books, and passed-down ideas.  However, many of these ideas come from religious beliefs.  Do you think I am just talking about Middle Eastern Religions?  Heck no.  There are many religions here in the US in which the core beliefs are that men are the powerful ones; they are the ones who should control it all; they are the ones who are knowledgeable.  And in many cases, those beliefs are interpreted to mean that men can whip, beat, and demean their wives and daughters.  We have so many factions in our own society who believe women are second-rate citizens who do not / should not have many of the basic rights our general society claims they have.  Employers still underpay, overwork women in many occupations and a woman, usually, has to go extra distance to “prove” she is qualified over a man.

I am a stand-up guy; I fully believe that women are people deserving of, at least, equality with men.  I realized not long ago that one of the problems I have with finding someone on dating sites are that many women on these sites want the “bad boy”; they want the guys who are tough and rough.  The problem is that many of those men, not all, are not only rough, but they are the ones who help perpetuate the ideas that women are less than men.  We live in a time when it seems that the women who are not allowing themselves to suffer under these “less than men” issues are the ones so often labelled as “feminists” (not necessarily a bad thing), whores, loose, and so on.  It occurs to me that many men would be upset if women were truly given equality and not just a word-of-mouth thing, but true equality.

I say “Let them be upset!”

Scott
