“A Nice Place to Visit”
Cleo looked up at the magnificent structure. The curves lent itself toward an enjoyable week-long vacation. The taxi pulled away, leaving her two suitcases alone on the sidewalk.
“I could like it here,” she thought. “It will do me good to concentrate on my romance novel.”
A scream caused her to look up. The man was perched precariously on the ledge of the building. He flung himself off, landing yards from her. The phantom was silent as he struck the earth.
Cleo looked at the dead spirit lying on the ground.
“Oh, my!” she thought. “Perhaps, Detroit wasn’t so bad.”

it’d be kinda hilarious having a ghost jump from a building over and over again and land face-down on the ground 🙂 as long as that’s all they’ll ever do

Dear Scott,
Methinks perhaps the author might be having second thoughts. On the other hand, maybe it was just her muse trying to get attention. Fun stuff.

Well on the surface it might look like Detroit is a better choice, but you have to weigh in the drive-by shootings … I’m just not shure.

It looks like the romance novel just took a darker turn. Maybe a romance/mystery?

Lol..Detroit.

Rule 3 of public speaking: know your audience. I am sure it’s high on the list for writing too. So nice touch having your character be a writer; made feel her excitement and disappointment that much more. Nice story!

You created a sharp contrast with her wish to write a romance novel and the phantom. But maybe this place will be an inspiration for a ghostly romance? Might still be a better environment than Detroit for a romance book.

Yes, that is, indeed, a proper thought – as I don’t care for Detroit at all. Been there once and don’t ever want to go back.

That was certainly a fun read…the last line shows she doubts her earlier statement about liking it at the new place 🙂

I think Cleo might’ve been better to stick with the dead spirits in Detroit.

That has been said by others, perhaps, she should listen.

Thank you! I enjoy writing them all and this one had be a bit concerned.

Nothing to be concerned about. So well written expressing just the write (ha,ha) emotions from the central character (a writer far from home) in an unusual environment as she witnesses paranormal activities.

Haha… As much as I love this building, I think ‘that’ would most certainly ‘turn me off’… Well done…

Well, me, too, but if I lived in Detroit…

Great story. There’s always a little death in every romance. This was just more than she bargained for.

If Detroit is better, I think I’d consider another destination! Perhaps she should switch from romance to horror.

Oh, I think maybe any writer worth their salt would find a way to roll a haunted hotel into a good romance story!

She just wanted quiet, but I think you are right.

Should have stayed in Detroit. I wonder why the ghost chose that moment for his display.

Perhaps, he does it all the time, but she could see it?
