Keeping Watch

(Previous episode)

By Scott L Vannatter

100 Words

Carolyn had moved from the restaurant. It had gotten bad; she had barely escaped. Now located in an abandoned hospital, she sits beside a window overlooking the parking lot.    Another night, another perch; she waits.

The Eaters, brain dead sons-of-bitches, would be ruling the streets in another hour.  She was not certain why they were not out as much in daylight, but it made her travels a bit easier.

She hunkers down, watching more intently as the twilight darkens.  At the far end of the lot, she sees movement.  Her brain jerks.  Her thoughts catch.  “Is that a man sneaking?”

carly books

I read lots of books, from mythology retellings to literary fiction and I love to reread books from childhood, this is a place to voice my thoughts for fun. I also like to ramble about things such as art or nature every now and again.
